About BGZ
Baltimore Ground Zero (BGZ) is dedicated to transforming the lives of inner-city youth by providing them with opportunities to experience life beyond their neighborhoods. Founded by Officer Gerard Pettiford Jr., a Baltimore native and veteran police officer, BGZ focuses on organizing educational and recreational trips that inspire youth to dream bigger and expand their horizons.
Through these trips, BGZ helps build positive relationships between youth and local law enforcement, fostering trust and collaboration between officers and the communities they serve. These experiences not only offer youth an escape from their everyday environment but also provide valuable mentorship, guidance, and personal growth.
At BGZ, we believe that by exposing young people to new possibilities and empowering them with the right tools and support, we can help them break the cycle of hardship and achieve success in life.
Our Mission
Our mission at Baltimore Ground Zero (BGZ) is to inspire and empower inner-city youth by providing transformative experiences beyond their communities. Through educational and recreational trips, we aim to foster personal growth, build positive relationships with local law enforcement, and expand the horizons of young people. We are committed to showing youth what’s possible when they are given the opportunity to explore, dream, and believe in a brighter future.
